4 Month Check Up

Makenna's 4 month old check up went well. At 4 months and 11 days old she weighed 11 pounds 12 ounces and measured 23 1/2 inches long (toe nail tips to pigtail tops). Dr. Legako said she looks great and that her growth curve is "perfect". He also said she is ready to start eating cereal 1 to 2 times a day and in a couple weeks can try veggies.

1st Solid Food

Last week I gave Makenna some rice cereal for the first time. She was stoked! As soon as she saw the spoon she opened her mouth and dove for it.

4 months!!

Makenna is a third of the way through her first year! *sob* She has become a very curious little girl. She likes to be right in the middle of everything and be able to hear and see whats going on around her at all times. She has the cutest little cross -eyed look of determination as she tries to touch, feel, grab, and taste everything around her. Although this super explorer attitude has seemingly led to the demise of breastfeeding and daytime naps, it is wonderfully adorable and, overall, a good thing.
She is still a very sweet, happy girl, but she definitely has a budding little attitude starting to show. She knows what she wants and gets very frustrated if she can't obtain her goals. This can be a bit of a problem since she already seems to think she needs to do everything big sis does. I have a feeling she might end up being one of those 'walk before crawl' babies (since she already thinks she can). From jumping and laughing to crying and stomping, Makenna laughs at just about everything Kylee does. This admiration is both terribly cute and horribly terrifying. I may be up against quite the twosome in the very near future.

100 Days

On July 21, 2010 Makenna turned 100 days old. Per Korean tradition, Auntie Vickie gave her a box full of gifts. Since I hadn't been giving her gifts for her monthly "birthdays", I also gave her a few things. She got 3 outfits and a beautiful, personalized pearl bracelet from Vickie and new rattles and a few black and white toys from me.

3 Months!!

Makenna is 3 months old and is getting more loveable every day. She is such a happy, smiley baby! She wakes every morning with the biggest smile on her face, as if she is super stoked just to be alive. I love it!
She is tolerating tummy time (which we still don't do nearly enough) a lot better now that she can lift her head. She can also roll from tummy to back. One thing she isn't tolerating better is the car. Some days she does just fine, but most days she screams. :(
Makenna loves to smile at herself in the mirror. She also loves for me to take her hands and sing Itsy Bitsy Spider and Pat-a-Cake. To The Market is another favorite rhyme. She still loves her zebra and also seems to enjoy looking at her black and white books.
She doesn't nap much during the day, but at night she's a champion sleeper. She usually sleeps over 7 hours (sometimes up to 9!) at a time in her crib. Thank God (and grandma) for the video monitor! I clip in on the basinet so that I can still look over and peek in on her during the night.

1st Fourth of July

Makenna's first Independence Day was pretty laid back. She spent most of the morning staring at the new flag Daddy put up in the backyard. She loves to watch it blow in the wind.

We went to Aunt Patty's house for lunch and stayed there most of the afternoon. Makenna enjoyed hanging out on the front porch and watching the rain.
